About Us

Born and raised on the north shore of Maui, I grew up in a tight-knit community that taught me we are all here to help one another. As a teenager, my father was injured at work and my mom became the only source of income for our family. Fortunately, two families we knew provided financial support so that I could pursue my passion for surfing. Their generous contributions allowed me to compete in Hawaii Surf Association contests on Maui and travel to National Scholastic Surf Association contests off-island. These were invaluable and impactful experiences for me as a teen. 

Hawaii Youth Sports Ambassadors, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was created to pay it forward to the next generation of young athletes needing financial support to follow their dreams. HYSA is a means for the community to provide life-changing opportunities for Maui’s youth.  

Our mission is to provide young athletes with the support they need to pursue their goals. This includes monetary assistance to attend competitive sporting events as well as mentoring, tutoring, and character development. We aim to help the next generation progress in life whether chasing their dreams of becoming a professional surfer or attending college.

Our vision is to unite the community in supporting our youth athletes as they participate in experiences that lead to broader success in life. By connecting young athletes with positive influences and mentors in their community, we hope to foster the development of sportsmanship, determination, perseverance, and the aloha spirit.
